1. Information We Collect

  • Account Identifiers: Name, email address, and contact numbers.
  • Demographic Information: Age range and gender (used for community insights and platform betterment).
  • Biking Profile: Bike type, club affiliation, and specific interests or reasons for joining.
  • Geographic & Location Data: We collect information regarding your Province and City/Town. For Business and Club listings, we collect specific physical addresses and GPS coordinates to power our directory and mapping services.
  • Dashboard Activity: For self-managed accounts (Bikers, Clubs and Businesses), we track login activity and update history to ensure account security and technical support.

2. Purpose of Processing & The “Registration Wall”

  • Community Security: Access to the search facilities, business directory, club profiles, and event details is strictly reserved for registered users. We require registration to prevent the unauthorized harvesting (“scraping”) of our members’ and partners’ information by non-registered entities or automated bots.
  • Local Connectivity: Your location data ensures you see clubs, events, and businesses relevant to your specific region.
  • The “Ubuntu” Clause: Data is processed to foster the spirit of Ubuntu by connecting the biking brotherhood across South Africa and beyond. We utilize anonymized, high-level analytics to help our business partners understand community needs without ever identifying you personally.

3. Data Protection & POPIA Compliance

  • Secure Storage: BD complies fully with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Data is stored securely and only for as long as is necessary to provide platform services.
  • No Sale of Data: We never sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
  • Trusted Service Providers: Information is shared only with essential partners (e.g., PayFast for secure payments and Google Maps for directory location services) as required for the platform to function.

4. Cookies & Tracking

  • BD uses cookies to remember your login preferences and improve site performance. You can manage cookie settings in your browser, though disabling them may limit your access to certain interactive features.

5. Your Rights & Access

  • Self-Management: You can access, update, or correct your personal, club, or business information at any time via your dedicated self-service dashboard.
  • Right to Deletion: You have the right to request the total removal of your data from our systems at any time by contacting dez@bikersdeztination.co.za.
